The role of the Security Service at the CORE is to provide a safe and enjoyable environment for the public at Calgary's only downtown shopping centre. The security department patrols the CORE 24 hours a day, 365 days a year while providing an increased presence during the busier times. Uniformed, licensed, and radio equipped Security staff patrol the mall, providing security presence and offering assistance as required. In the event that you require the assistance of the Security Service, please contact Guest Services on the 3rd level (Plus 30).
SECURITY SERVICES AVAILABLE
The Security Service is available to assist mall patrons and tenants in many ways, including but not limited to:
- Assisting patrons with the location of their vehicle
- Providing first aid for any injuries or illness (our security staff are trained in CPR, First Aid, and use of on-site defibrillators)
- Locating lost children
- Operating a lost and found property program for items found in the CORE
- Ensuring personal safety through escorts and constant, uniformed patrols
In addition to patrolling the shopping floor, our Security Service also patrols the parkades. These patrols serve to deter crime, identify suspicious behaviour, and to assist shoppers in these outer areas of the shopping centre. There is also a Security dispatcher, who is responsible for monitoring the advanced closed circuit camera system which observes the interior and exterior of the mall, as well as answering all incoming telephone calls for Security assistance. Calls for assistance are distpatched to the appropriate Security personnel who are trained to deal with any situations that may arise. Our Security Service acts as an important link with the Calgary Police Service and other emergency services that may be required at the CORE.
FIRST AID AND CPR
In order to further protect visitors to the CORE, the centre acquired five Automated External Defibrillators (AED's) and all members of the Security Service are trained in the use of these life-saving cardiac devices. All Security and Operations personnel are also trained in first aid and CPR.
Are you interested in working as a member of the CORE Security Service? If so, please submit a resume and cover letter to the security office located on the P1 level of the Canada Trust Tower. Resumes are accepted on a continuous basis, with interviews held as positions become available. Security experience and post-secondary education are required.
