2015 Spring Trends

By Ally Onyett, Mar 25

This spring get ready for some pretty heavy 1970's inspiration with everything from wide leg trousers, stacked heels, oversized hats and patterns galore. Get the look with a few trendy items that'll bring last season's wardrobe up to speed.

Wide Leg Trousers:

These pants were a staple in the 70s' and we're glad to see them come back. They're known for accentuating the waist line, and providing a slimming effect. They also work well with nearly every body type. Try these pants in a solid colour or a fun pattern. (Above pants available at H&M.)

Structured Feminity:

The trend is slowly transitioning from flowy tops and blazers to more structured pieces. To update your existing closet add a structured blazer to your look. Be sure to find one that hits at the hips and is wide in the shoulders. (Above blazer available at Judith & Charles.)

Yellow:

It's been awhile since we have seen yellow dominate the spring colour wheel, but it's certainly in full force this season. To incorporate this bright sunny hue into your wardrobe try a funky nail polish (above polish available at Sephora) or a cross body bag (above bag available at Roots).

Floral:

We love the ultra femine floral patterns that are taking shape in all sorts of colours, shades, fabrics and styles. For an easy way to add this trend to your everyday look, try a pair of floral pumps. Wear them with a neutral suit or jeans, or, even mix and match your florals. (Above pumps will be available soon at Town Shoes.)

Cuff Bracelets:

Update your look with some simple accessories like an architecturally intricate cuff bracelet. A cuff bracelet never goes out of style, however, they are definitely one of this season's favourites. (Above cuff is part of the Birks Muse Collection.)

The Shootie:

This boot/sandal/shoe is all the rage this summer. Think stacked heels, open back and neutrals tones, when looking for this must-have item. These summer boots look great with a wide leg pant, denim, and flirty dresses. (Above shootie available at Aldo.)

Hats:

Hats are making a strong comeback this season. This noticeable accessory can update any look, and lets face it, they're pretty fun to wear. Try this hat with long hair down or in a sleek low pony tail for a runway look. (Above hat available at H&M.)
