#BeautyBite with Carlene Higgins

By Ally Onyett, May 03

As part of Holt Renfrew's Beauty Week (on now), they're hosting live Twitter Q&A's with Canada's leading beauty experts from May 4 - 6, 2015. Today's beauty expert was Carlene Higgins (@Carlenetweets) Beauty Director at Flare Magazine. We sat in on the convo and rounded up a few of our favourite questions and answers on No Make-Up Make-Up.

1. Q. What is the best way to reduce pore appearance?

     A. Clarisonic or Fraxel

  • Clarisonic is great every day option that you can use right at home. Cost per use makes this little gimic affordable, and the results are clearer, cleaner, and softer looking skin.

  • Fraxel® is proven laser technology that can help reverse the visible effects of aging, fine lines, wrinkles, surface scarring, age spots, sun damage and actinic keratosis. Fraxel® is an administered proceedure that several clinics in Calgary use.

2.  Q. What is the best way to fake a tan without harmful rays?

     A. Nars multiples in bronze tones to contour face

  • Nars Multiple Sticks come in a variety of colours and shades. They're perfect for contouring and easy to throw in your purse for quick touch ups. Used dry it delivers high impact colour, used wet it provides a smooth sheer finish for a hint of colour.

3. Q. What is the best under eye concealer for hereditary dark circles?

    A. Clé de Peau Beauté concealer a shade lighter than your foundation.

  • Clé de Peau Beauté is a high quality skin care line out of Japan. A concealer stick like this one is perfect for no-fuss, no-mess quick touch ups on the go. Remember, go a shade lighter than your foundation.

4. Q. I love bright nail polish, are neons a thing right now?

     A. Nudes are big - no makeup for nails.

  •  Try softer pinks, greys, and neutrals this summer like this Simple Nude by Christian Louboutin.

5. Q. What do you see as this year's hot colour for summer?

    A. Chanel Rouge Coco in Coco Orange-Red
