#BeautyBite with Lesa Hannah

By Ally Onyett, May 04

This morning Holt Renfrew hosted their second Twitter Q&A of the week with the Beauty Director of FASHION Magazine, Lesa Hannah (@LesaHannah). They addressed all of our burning questions about how to wear that poppy red statement lip - one of make-up's biggest trends right now. We checked in and pulled our top five favourite questions and comments in case you missed the conversation.

1. This one is pretty simple - clean face, clear skin and fresh eye make-up look best with a bright lip, otherwise you may look over done.

2. Q. What shade of red lipstick is best suited for spring?

    A. Punchy corals and berry tones are great for a jolt of spring colour.

3. Q. Any tips to keep the lips moisturized for a smooth application?

    A.  Lip balm first, always. And also be sure they're exfoliated. Damp facecloth works well.

Bobbi Brown Lip Balm

4. Q. Matte, Sheer or Shine for Spring/Summer? And what brand do you recommend?

    A. Liquid lipsticks are great. They have shine but great pigment and even look amazing as they fade, leaving a sheer stain. Try Yves Saint    Laurent, Dior, or Laura Mercier.

5. Q. How do I make my lipstick last longer, without resorting to a 12hr shade?

     A. Layering is the secret to longevity. Use a creamy lip pencil first, blot with powder, then apply your red of choice.
