Designer of the Month: Zac Posen

By Allison Onyett, Sep 16

On September 12, 2015 during New York Fashion Week, acclaimed designer, and now Creative Director for the Brooks Brothers signature women’s collection, Zac Posen (pictured left) debuted his first ever collection for the brand in the Brooks Brothers' New York flagship store.

The collection is expected to hit stores in mid-February 2016, and we can’t wait. Brooks Brothers has always been known for their American classics and preppy style, and while the collection doesn’t take away from the identity of the brand, it does add pops of colour, and modern twists to the classic Brooks Brothers look. The line is 70’s inspired, and filled with cuffed flared pants, bright colours, bold prints and event bucket hats.

In celebration of this new collection coming to the CORE, we chose Zac Posen as our Septmeber ‘Designer of the Month.’

While you may know him from the nearly 14 seasons he’s sat as a judge on the reality TV series 'Project Runway', his fame started long before the show aired.

Posen’s training began at a very early age. When we were all thinking about what to where to prom and the next math exam, 16 year old Posen was already attending Parson’s School of Design, and then London’s Central Saint Martin’s University.

In 2001 he launched his first collection, and only two years later was awarded one of fashion’s most prestigious honours, Swarovski’s The Perry Ellis Award for Womenswear by the CFDA.

Now his collections are a red carpet staple, and have been worn by the likes of Uma Thurman, First Lady Michelle Obama, Gwyneth Paltrow and Naomi Watts, to name a few.

As you can imagine, with such impressive repertoire, we were more than thrilled to hear his ready to wear collection was going to be available at Brooks Brothers, and at competitive prices. Here’s a few teasers from the Brooks Brother's Instagram account of what's to come next spring.
