Top 5 Summer Nail Colours

By Maddy Weedle, Jul 22

Summer is all about festivals, vacations and pool parties, so grab those bright and pastel polishes that you avoid during the colder months and have a little fun with your nail colours. We’ve pulled together a list of the top 5 summer nail colours for 2015, so that you can always be on-trend with your nail polish.

1. Nude Sheer Neutrals: This spring and summer we’ve been seeing the barely there manicure all over town. For a low-maintenance, pulled together look, try a sheer neutral that goes with every style this summer. The colour doesn’t necessarily have to be skin tone nude; it can be a light neutral like CND's Naked Naviete available at CHATTERS.

CHATTERS CND in Naked Naviete $11.71

2. Brighter Blues and Purples: Bold Crayola colours are a must-have for the summer, and they are a fun way to show some personality. What are trending right now are brighter blues and purples ranging from sky blue to dark purple. We love the Butler Please Essie Nail Lacquer from Shoppers Drug Mart that will make you feel like you’re on a tropical vacation.

3. Chic Corals: Corals in summer are the counterpart of deep wine in the winter months. We love corals because they’re the perfect combination of girly and bold. Try pairing a coral polish with an all white outfit for a modern look.

Angles OPI Hawaii in Aloha $9.99

4. Pastel Lilacs and Pinks: Pretty pastels are a summer favourite that look flawless through spring and summer. When applying a pastel colour, make sure to use thin coats or pick a creamy polish so that it looks fresh and streak-free. We love this pastel purple from Holt Renfrew that is brighter than the usual pastel colour for a livelier look.

Holt Renfrew Laura Mercier Nail Lacquer in Reckless $22

5. Iridescent Glitters: One of the hottest nail trends this summer is opaque glitter that mimics the look of flowers. We love this Ciate London polish in Rosebush, as it can be worn on its own or applied over another polish as a top coat. When picking a glitter polish, opt for one that is flowery and sophisticated (think a garden party on your nail.)

Sephora Ciate London Mini Paint Pot Nail Polish and Effects in Rosebush $10

If you're looking to get pampered, stop by for a mani/pedi in the CORE at Angles or Eveline Charles.
