Kick Start Your Skin With Vitamin C

By Maddy Weedle, May 26

Looking for younger, radiant looking skin? Then you should probably invest in a cream with a high dose of vitamin C. Here's a list of reasons why applying vitamin C topically is just as important as getting it in your orange juice, and a list of products you can find it in.

The benefits of vitamin C:

 - Keeps skin plump and youthful –  Vitamin C is a natural antioxidant that helps form collagen and elastin in your skin, acting as a natural anti-ager.

- Brightens dark spots – and improves skin tone by inhibiting the production of the enzyme tyrosinase which creates pigmentation.

- Helps shield skin from damage – from environmental factors that cause aging and damage to your skin.

What to look for in a vitamin C skin product:

- At least 10% vitamin C to reap the full benefits of this anti-aging nutrient.

- The ingredients ascorbic acid, ascorbyl palmitate, and sodium ascorbyl phosphate which are scientific names for vitamin C.

- Opaque and air-restrictive bottles to protect vitamin C from destabilizing when exposed to air and light which can reduce the benefits

When will you see the results?

Some will see changes as soon as two to four weeks with daily application, for others it may take up to six to eight weeks. After six months you’ll reach the maximum benefits, but continued use is required to maintain the effects.
